About Valencia Handy

Successful businesswoman and philanthropist, Valencia Handy is expanding her efforts to run for City Council to stimulate the economy and provide better resources for community members. Also a licensed medical professional of over 20 years that attended legislators’ school, Valencia Handy’s devotion to the betterment and revitalization of the community began well before her decision to run for city council. A Wilson, NC native, upon her high school graduation she received a Chancellor Scholarship for Fayetteville State University, a historically black public regional university.

Due to her academic career growth, Handy firmly believes in the importance of education and has served on the Action Pathways Executive Committee and Headstart Policy Council to advocate for the growth and success of our youth. She is also involved with the Friends Committee on National Legislation to support social and economic justice.
